Even though the run/walk is cancelled, Flags4Vets needs hundreds of Adult and Kid Volunteers to help place 25,000 Veterans’ Grave Flags on the Louisville Great Lawn at Waterfront Park, starting at 10AM on Saturday, May 28, and continuing through Sunday at 8PM. Bring your family to help honor 1.5 Million Veterans who have been killed in action, all living Veterans, and those troops presently serving out country. Flags4Vets May 29, 2011 Run/Walk Cancelled
Due to the unstable and unpredictable state of the Ohio River and the weather here in Louisville, there is a possibility that debris, silt, and mud may create unsafe conditions for our runners and walkers, we are cancelling the May 29, 2011 Flags4Vets Memorial Day Weekend walk/run.
We will refund 100% of the money that our runners and walkers have paid to us. Refund checks will be sent by U.S. Mail by June 1, 2011.
Flags4Vets regrets that we had to take this step, and we realize that everything could be just fine by May 29, but we just can’t take the chance that someone might be injured, or that the run/walk doesn’t fulfill the expectations of some of the more dedicated walkers and serious runners.
I can assure you that it wasn’t an easy decision to remove a source of income that funds thousands of flags for Veterans graves.
Thanks for your understanding.
Fred Moore, Executive Director, Flags4Vets
