THE 5K RUN: The course has been designed to accommodate serious & recreational runners; there are $100, $50, & $25 cash prizes for the top three women and men. After the run, if they wish, runners may help place flags on Veterans’ Graves. VIEW ROUTE
THE 2-MILE WALK (The Parade of Flags): The walk starts where the run starts and cuts back through the cemetery by way of a scenic trail that takes you past a seldom seen pond and the original Cave Hill limestone quarry. Walkers will be accompanied by members of our U.S. Armed Forces, and other Honored Guests. The walk will end in the historic Cave Hill Military Cemetery, which is only 100 feet from where the walk started. Each walker will carry an Official U.S. Grave Decorating Flag to place on a Cave Hill Veteran’s Grave at the end of the walk. A poignant ceremony, hosted by Flags4Vets, will be conducted with Full Military Honors, including Bagpipes, a 21 Gun Salute, and Taps.
The flag-lined course starts at a back gate to Cave Hill Cemetery at 1351 Payne Street, in front of Breckinridge School. The course has been designed to accommodate serious runners and recreational walkers. Both courses end back at the original start/finish. There will be Free Food & Beverages. CASH AWARDS for top finishers.
TEAMS: There are special incentives for Corporations, Businesses, Clubs, and other Organizations that form teams of at least 10 or more paid runners and/or walkers to participate in the Cave Hill Flag Run. EARLY REGISTRATION IS $20 FOR ADULTS AND KIDS. EACH REGISTRATION WILL FUND TWENTY FLAGS FOR VETERANS' GRAVES. LATE REGISTRTION IS $25 ON SITE, AND DOES NOT INCLUDE A T-SHIRT. IF THE FEE IS TOO MUCH FOR YOU AT THIS PARTICULAR TIME, CALL US AND WE WILL REDUCE THE FEE.
